At the fast-paced Design and QA department at EDealer, our team is always brainstorming new ideas and pushing the envelope for creative designs and innovative approaches.

To feed that creativity, we often plan group activities and exercises to help refocus, develop skills and explore new concepts. A few months ago, we started an ongoing collaborative activity, our doodle board! If we were struggling to concentrate or experiencing a creative block, we designated a time-limited doodle expedition. It allowed us to take a mental break and explore our creativity by drawing whatever came to mind.

The doodle board started small, with just the EDealer “E” emblem in the middle and soon grew to be completely filled with typography, characters and patterns.

It not only helped our team members refocus when they were stuck, but it brought us all closer together!

It not only helped our team members refocus when they were stuck, but it brought us all closer together, building off each other’s drawings and creating something truly unique. Whether we planned out a character we wanted to draw or mindlessly added dots to fill white space, it gave everyone a chance to contribute.

The board was inspired by the En Masse Project, “an ever-expanding community of artists exploring the power of shared creativity and community building” through drawing. Our end product is a 3×4 foot black and white board displaying a visual representation of the creativity of our department. We hung it proudly on our office wall, a reminder of EDealer’s collaborative spirit.
